We have board games like Forbidden Island where you and the other players are rushing to collect 4 relics by paying their same cards at the specific alter and fly away before the island floods and traps you there! Its a lot of fun for kids right up to adults.
If competition is more your thing we have a games like ticket to ride. In this game you are all trying to build train routes from one destination it the U.S. to another, but be warned, others may plan to use the same route and steal it out from under you causing you to use more limited resources to claim your routes. This is one of my personal favorite board games. Even my 5 year old has played this game as well.
